Production time & deliveryProduction timeline for all custom pieces is about 8-10 weeks, with more intricate designs requiring a little more time. During the production phase, Stephanie will stay in touch, providing in-process photos and videos to keep you involved in the creative process. When the project is finished and ready to ship, we will coordinate logistics with you. We ship fully insured via FedEx 2-day with an adult signature required. We are unable to waive signature.
-
Budget & paymentAt the completion of the design phase, Stephanie will provide a formal proposal for the project. The proposal will include final sketches, details on gemstones and materials, a timeline for production and delivery, and a final price for the project for your approval. All custom projects require full payment prior to commencing production.
-
Custom or Bespoke? In our studio practice, a custom project usually involves Stephanie modifying an existing piece from her collection to a client's preferences, including stone type/color choices, size, dimension, etc. A bespoke project is a one-of-a-kind piece that is completely designed and tailored to the client's specifications, measurements -- i.e. from scratch.
-
How do I get started? The first step is to schedule a time to talk about your project. We offer virtual and in-person consultations. For this appointment or call, it is important to have given thought to what kind of jewel you want to create. What do you want to wear? Do you have a specific design in mind? Is there a design of Stephanie's you've seen and wish to recreate? Do you plan to wear this new piece with other jewels in your wardrobe? Do you have the materials you want to work with? Will you be repurposing an heirloom stone or are we sourcing all materials for the project? The more comprehensive your inspiration and vision, the better. This first conversation will involve information gathering to determine a design direction and a sense of price range.
-
Can I commission wedding or commitment jewelry?Yes. Stephanie has a portfolio of customizable wedding and milestone designs, including bands, gemstone rings and cufflinks. We can source diamonds and alternative bridal and commitment gems, or work with a client's stone(s). We also offer hand engraving.
-
Can I repurpose an heirloom gem or jewel? Many of us have an old family heirloom that isn't being worn anymore. Perhaps the stone(s) are lovely but the design is dated. It just doesn't feel like you. Sometimes a stone may not be particularly valuable, but the sentimental attachment makes it priceless. If this is the kind of project you wish to explore, Stephanie is happy to work with you to reimagine your meaningful gems in a design of her aesthetic and quality standards. Once we have your stone in hand we can provide a more detailed evaluation.
-
What are the steps in the process?Once a design direction and a price range have been established, Stephanie will begin the process of sketching ideas, and if necessary, sourcing stones that align with your specifications and preferences. Photos, videos and all pertinent gemstone information will be shared with the client for approval before any final decisions on materials are made.
